My inspiration mantra for this week... and possibly every week from now on. :)

My inspiration mantra for this week... and possibly every week from now on. :)

The main reason for the above quote was because this week was tough.  January is usually a rough month for me because of seasonal depression.  Long story short the dead of winter was making me feel dead inside.  Towards the end of this week I realized that I have a powerful tool to make myself feel happier.  Art. In previous years I had nothing to focus on except the misery of existing in a desolate winter world.  Now that I have art as an outlet, I can choose to work harder and focus all my energy towards painting.

Does anyone else struggle with seasonal depression?  What do you do to cope with it?

Anyho, lets take a look at what I created this week for my 365 days of color challenge!

January 7th prompt - Whale

 Fuzzy whale?!

Fuzzy whale?!

I think the employees of Micheal's crafts are thoroughly confused as to what I'm making with my purchases.  The cashiers always remark, "You buy such random things!".  So no one else is buying 40 tubes of paint, furry shark toys and squishy dismembered limbs in a bottle?  Yes that last one was something they sold.  It was a great day when I found it.

January 8th prompt - Seashells

 Future mermaid bras?

Future mermaid bras?

I bought these shells as part of a five pound bulk bag of shells and most of them are in really good shape.  Some of them have little dried up bugs and possibly fish parts on them... not something you want to discover as you're creating art.

January 9th prompt - Starfish

 This starfish needs sunscreen.

This starfish needs sunscreen.

These little guys look like they need a hug.  But they're also kinda freaking me out.

January 10th prompt - Tiny Toy Sea Creatures

 Lisa Frank fish?!

Lisa Frank fish?!

These toy sea creatures were so much fun to paint!  It was an activity that I could really turn off my brain and focus on just having fun with colors and making them look however I wanted.  Also maybe channeling List Frank for this one.

January 11th prompt - Message in a Bottle

 Sent help and more paint!

Sent help and more paint!

This one was very frustrating.  I first had a tiny cute painting and tried squeezing it into a tiny cute bottle.  Because everything is better when it's tiny... most of the time.  Ahem.  After the tiny bottles failed miserably I gave up and shoved this painting into a bottle I was going to use for spices. Now I can't get it out.  Help!

January 12th prompt - Shark

 Swim little fishy swim!

Swim little fishy swim!

This one was my favorite of the week.  You can't really tell from the photo, but this shark toy is GIGANTIC!  Kinda wish I had this toy as a kid.

January 13th prompt - Seahorse

 Intergalatic Seahorse

Intergalatic Seahorse

Ok maybe this one is my favorite of the week.  Don't tell Cecil the Shark.  That's his name now.

I hope you enjoyed this week's recap and let me know what you would like to see in the future!

Stay Creative!
